Jason: Hi there, my name is Jason and RNID actually helped me with this work placement. I was very bored and Julianne Gilmore advised me to try and get some work. RNID helped me to create my CV. They helped me write a new one. Their advisor phoned many, many places to try and get me work.

Robert: A letter came in from RNID asking if we would be interested in participating in a work experience scheme. To that end we had a brief meeting here at the store to look at the logistical end of it to see if we could accommodate the request. It turned out that we had a common thread and we then asked that Julianne bring in the candidate who turned out to be Jason.

Jason was then interviewed along with the Senior Food Store Manager to see if we could find common ground to start the thing off. Within probably 14 days Jason was on the shop floor.

Jason: Yeah, it was good – it was good. When I first arrived I wasn't sure that the staff would engage with me but over time it was fine. I had no problem one-to-one. Obviously I had to try and lipread some of the staff but we would sometimes text each other and that was fine on the shop floor. And it's made me more knowledgeable about what's expected of me and with Jason, a real buddy, he helped me …with my confidence as well and it's really, really helped – it's been fantastic.

Robert: It's been an absolute pleasure to work with you Jason. You are an absolute credit to RNID and I wish you all the best in the future.

Jason: Thank you.
