Problems and solutions
Our videos should play immediately after you click on them. Here are
some reasons why they might not, with possible fixes:
- JavaScript is not turned on. Go into your browser's
options to enable JavaScript. If you use multiple browsers on your computer,
make sure you amend this setting on the browser you are using.
- You do not have Adobe Flash® Player installed or have
a version number earlier than 9.0.1.124. If you are using Microsoft
Windows you can find this out by going through Start > Settings >
Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
If you don't have Adobe
Flash® Player, you can install a free version from Adobe. Make sure
you restart your computer after installation. If you are using Windows
and are still having problems, you may need to review these useful
troubleshooting steps. Note that although Microsoft Internet Explorer
normally comes preloaded with Flash Player, if you are using a different
browser you will need to install Flash Player on it too.
- You have applications like Quicktime, iTunes, RealPlayer or
Windows Media Player set as the default streaming application.
This may affect the video player so make sure your default application
is Adobe Flash Player.
- Your internet speed is slow. This means it may take
time for the video to start playing and may cause it to pause briefly
during the video's playback. You can reduce this by pausing the video,
waiting for the dark grey bar to move to the end of the control bar
(running along the bottom of the video player) and then clicking the
play button.
- You have software that blocks pop-ups.You can temporarily
disable this in your browser settings.
- You are working on a computer network where video use is restricted.

Video versions
Each video can be played in four versions: "Original", "BSL",
"BSL+S" or "S".
- Original - without BSL translation or subtitles
- BSL - with BSL translation
- BSL+S - with BSL translation and subtitles
- S - with subtitles.
All videos play in the "BSL+S" version as default. You can
choose the version you prefer by clicking on one of the four video buttons
on the left of the video player. The video player will remember your selection
if you view multiple videos but you can change this setting by clicking
on a different version button.
